EPGP – Raid Looting

EPGP

Awaken employs an EPGP system of Loot Distribution for its 25-man raids. This system only works if every member of the guild downloads and enables the addons

These are REQUIRED by every Raider!

EPGPLootmaster

The system works as a ratio, where your Effort Points (EP) divided by your Gear Points (GP) determine a Priority Rating (PR). Effort Points and Gear Points ARE NOT currency. They are simply a measure of much a player has put in, and how much they have received.

Players will be awarded EP for:

Method of Earning EP Amount Earned
Signed up and On-time Bonus 300 EP
    Progression Bosses 500 EP
    Farm Bosses 250 EP
Wiping on Progression Bosses 125 per wipe, to a max of 375 EP
Time Spent Raiding 100 EP per 30 Minutes
Special cases determined by officers To be determined by officers

Since PR is a ratio of EP to GP, as your EP increases, all else remaining constant, your position in the priority queue will improve.

Here are a few additional values to be aware of:

    Stat Value
Base GP 264 (set at ilevel of the tier pieces)
Decay 5% at the start of each raid!
Minimum EP 6000 (subject to change)

Basics

Typically, when a piece of loot drops, it will be given to the raid member with the highest priority.

Once a member receives a piece of loot, they will receive Gear Points equal to the value displayed on the in-game tooltips, which is added by the EPGP(dkp reloaded) addon.

At this point, the member will drop in priority based on the number of effort points one had when divided by the new Gear Point total they now posses. The basic formula for determining Priority is as follows:

    Effort Points/Gear Points= Priority Rating

Details

Base GP, Decay and Minimum EP

In an attempt to handle new players joining the guild, both in what’s fair for them to receive, and how long it should take for them to receive it, Decay and Minimum EP will be utilized

Base GP: All members begin with a base GP of 264. This amount never changes. Gear Points aquired through loot will be added on to this. This is to prevent new members from having infinite PR.

Decay: All players will be subject to a decay rate of 5%, to both their GP and EP at the start of each raid. This will result in no change in priority, however it will lower the gap a newer player must close in order to achieve priority over veteran members. Decay will occur every Tuesday.

Minimum EP: This is a measure taken to prevent newer players from walking into a raid, and taking loot from veteran raiders. The exact value has yet to be determined, but more than likely it will be in the neighborhood of 6000-10000 EP, which is about 2-4 raids.

Items with Two Gear Point Values

The goal of EPGP is to ensure that the cost to equip an entire set of gear is as close to equal as possible for all class and specs. For armor, jewelry, and trinkets, they will be given a single GP value. Weapons differ from this.

Different classes want weapons for different reasons. For example, a Hunter wants a ranged weapon for both it’s stats, and damage range. Meanwhile, a Warrior only wants a ranged weapon for the stats it provides.

To normalize the cost in these situations, weapons will cost either the higher or lower amount of GP, depending on the class and spec of the recipient. Here’s a table listing the scenarios where the lower cost of the item is used:

    Item Scenario Value Used
1h Weapon Used as Off-hand Lower Value
1h Weapon Used by Hunter Lower Value
1h Weapon Tanking Weapons Lower Value
2h Weapon Used for Off-hand by TG Warriors Lower Value
2h Weapon Used by Hunter Lower Value
Ranged Weapons Anyone but Hunters Lower Value
Shields Anyone but Tanks Lower Value

To ensure there is no confusion, here is an example of how the different GP values works:

In this example, we will take a look at the total GP costs it takes to fill out the weapon slots for a Hunter and a Mage with iLvl 245 gear. The Hunter is using [Death's Head Crossbow] for his ranged slot, and [Twin's Pact] for his melee slot. Using the above rules, the would pay full price for his ranged weapon, in this case 497 GP, while paying the lower cost for the melee weapon, equaling 331 GP, for a grand total of 628 GP.

Now, let’s look at the cost needed to equip Mage with the same item level gear. The Mage will be using a 1handed weapon:[Barb of Tarasque], an off-hand:[Talisman of Heedless Sins], and a wand:[Scepter of Imprisoned Souls]. Again, using the above rules, it costs the Mage 497 GP for his main hand, the off-hand is 165 GP, and the wand will be 165 GP, the lower cost on the in-game tooltip. The grand total for the Mage to fill all it’s weapon slots is 627, basically the same cost as the Hunter.

In addition, if multiple classes express interest in one of the above items, rather than strictly using Priority to determine who is awarded the item, the person that receives the item will be the one who has to use the higher GP value to acquire it.

For example, if a Rogue and a Hunter want a bow that drops, even if the Rogue has higher priority, since the Hunter is subject to the higher GP cost, the Hunter will will be awarded the item. The same would apply if a main hand Sword dropped, the Rogue would get it due to being subject to the higher GP cost.

This is to ensure that weapons are given to classes that get the most use of it first.

Alts, Offspecs, Sidegrades

Alts: will still generate EP and GP for their main characters. Alts will have lower priority to Main characters who want the item for their Main Spec, but in the event they are awarded an item, they will only be subject to 10% of the GP value.

Offspecs: Players that want an item for their offspec will be awarded the item at 10% of the GP, assuming no main specs want the item first.

Sidegrades: There will be times when someone wants an item, but will only be a marginal or small upgrade. When a player wants an item that has equal Item Level to their currently equipped item, they will be awarded the item at 10% of the GP cost.

These reduced costs will be taken from the higher GP cost, assuming there is one.

Trial Members

Trial members will not gain priority until they have exceeded the minimum EP requirements. At that point, they will gain priority like normal, and be promoted to full membership.

Orbs, Recipes, Saronite

Crafting materials and recipes will be given out based on PR, rank, and other factors. The exact GP cost for these have yet to be determined. Check back for update soon.

Conclusion

It’s goal is to proportionally reward players for the amount of effort they put in, while also taking into account the gear they’ve already received.

No loot distribution system is perfect, nor will there ever be such a system. We chose to use EPGP because it attempts to distribute loot in the most fair manner possible, but no system is without it’s flaws.

We understand that their may be times where an item may go to a “less deserving” raider, or maybe without a loot system in place, a piece of gear would’ve gone to someone else. However, we hope that these situations will be the exception, and not the rule.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask any of the officers in game. Also, the EPGP website contains additional information on the system, examples, and how the addon itself works. Thanks for taking the time to read through all this information!
